How To Setup OpenVPN on Windows

Follow these simple steps to get connected quickly and securely.

Download and Install OpenVPN Client

  • Go to the OpenVPN community downloads page
  • Download the appropriate version of the OpenVPN client for your Windows system (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Follow the installation instructions to install the OpenVPN client on your computer.

Download VPN Profile

  • Visit this link and download the ZIP file containing the OpenVPN profile.
  • Once downloaded, extract the contents of the ZIP file to a folder on your computer.

Connect to VPN

  • Launch the OpenVPN client. You can find it in your Windows start menu or desktop shortcut.
  • Right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen).
  • Select "Import file..." from the context menu and navigate to the folder where you extracted the contents of the ZIP file.
  • Choose the configuration file (with a .ovpn extension) that you want to use and click "Open" to import it into the OpenVPN client.

Connect to the VPN Server

  • Once the profile is imported, right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon again in the system tray.
  • Select the profile you just imported from the list of available connections.
  • Click on "Connect" to initiate the VPN connection.
  • Enter your VPN credentials when prompted.

Verify Connection

  • After a few moments, the OpenVPN client should display a successful connection message.

Disconnecting from VPN

  • To disconnect from the VPN, right-click on the OpenVPN GUI icon in the system tray.
  • Select the connected profile and click "Disconnect."
